1/9th Plate Ambrotype of a Unidentified Confederate Soldier with a Large Hat

A ninth plate ambrotype of an unidentified Confederate soldier. The soldier is wearing a homemade uniform of a darker gray material with seven buttons and epaulettes. The jacket has one pocket on the breast. The buttons are not gilded but the light reflection makes identification of a device not possible. He is wearing a large hat with one side pinned up but because of the angle of the photo, the side of the hat is not visible. The large book he is holding appears to be upside down.
