1/6th Ambrotype Potential Early War Reb Inscription “Grandparents in Richmond 1862”.
I spoke with a few different experts over this image and we came to a Southern leaning conclusion. The kepi “feels” Southern to me as do the cloth shoulder boards, but early militia are units all over the place and had oddball uniforms and insignia. With the inscription noted in the case it leads me to believe this is indeed an early war Confederate. The images both are ruby ambrotypes and extremely crisp!
