ID’ed Southern 1/6th Plate Ambrotype Newberry County, South Carolina!
This image is of Sarah A. Davenport “Sallie” with a period inscription noting the location and name of the person in the photo. Sarah was born in Newberry, SC in 1815 and lived there here entire life until May 11, 1902 when she passed. She is buried in Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Silverstreet, Newberry County, South Carolina. She had six children two boys and four girls. Her son Jefferson would go to serve in the Confederacy. In later years Jefferson would take care of his mother until her passing in 1902.
