Commander and Staff, 2nd Brig., 3rd Division, 5th Corps depicting seven officers and three black servants in camp (131st Penn Vol Inf), all of whom are identified on the lower mount, including the owner of the photo, H.J. Martin, Surgeon in Chief. His inscription on back indicates this was taken in camp near Falmouth, Va. on April 9, 1863, which would be the week before the beginning of the Chancellorsville Campaign. Those identified include (l to r, back to front) Capt. T.S. Bell, Acting Asst. Adj. Genl.; Capt. H.H. Tyler, Asst. Insp. Genl.; St. C.F. Chapman, Acting Brig. Q.M.; Col. P.H. Allenbach, Comdg. Brig.; St. J. Dennison, Aide de Camp; H.T. Martin, Surgeon Chief of Brig.; Capt. S.R. Steele, Brig. Com. Sub.; plus servants Jesse, Fred & Philip. Includes a brief written observation called "Twilight" that was behind the photo, in the original frame and glass. Albumen photo is 5 1/4" x 7 1/2", with rounded corner. The frame is 11 3/4" x 12 3/4".
